Willunga 100 Grenache

2011 Willunga 100 Grenache rated 94 points – 2015 James Halliday Wine Companion

Bright, clear red; while little more than light-bodied, and not entirely typical of McLaren Vale grenache, has precision and focus to its red berry/raspberry fruit, backed by fine-grained tannins.

Andy Cronshaw recommends the 2011 Shiraz Viognier in the Manchester Evening News

Matches McLaren Vale’s blockbusting Shiraz with silky Viognier to make a wine in the style of Cote-Rotie, one of northern Rhone’s greatest. Savoury yet floral aromas abound and there’s great depth.

Willunga 100 ‘The Hundred’ Grenache 2013 rated 17.5 points in Decanter Magazine (Sept 2014 issue)

A project funded 10 years ago by three industry experts who found a dearth of good-value, quality Aussie wines. This is their flagship, showing lots of vibrant red fruit and floral characters. Power with elegance and freshness with fine tannins and cherry spice on finish., March 2014

Willunga 100 Cabernet Shiraz 2010

Best Value Wines

This is the classic Aussie blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, made in typically sweetly ripe and spicy blackcurrant mould, with tannins nicely rounded out by a touch of oak for a thoroughly pleasurable, full-flavoured and good value red., March 2014

Willunga 100 Shiraz Viognier 2011

An Aussie take on the Côte Rôtie blend of Shiraz with a touch of Viognier for aroma and softness, in this instance 5%, this is powerful in sweetly ripe, almost chocolatey, dark berry fruit with a suggestion of mint, and while it may not be especially complex, it is certainly rich and satisfying.

Willunga 100 Grenache 2010

A real rollercoaster of a wine, packed with black cherries, herbs and strawberry fruit and just a lick of vanilla.

Willunga 100 Grenache 2011

Full-bodied, strawberries and spice. A perfect winter warmer.

Willunga 100 Shiraz Viognier 2011

Nice depth and juiciness to its blackcurrant fruit with attractive ripe but present anchoring threads of tannins. Again, well done!

Willunga 100 ‘The Tithing’ Grenache 2010

“This label is making impressive reds. This is their flagship, it is sourced from ancient vines in the McLaren Vale’s best Grenache vintage in some time. The 2010 Tithing has enticing juicy, brambly aromatics, ripe blackberry and mulberry flavours that are bright, deep and ultra-concentrated. It’s round, supple, fleshy and generous with approachable though formidable tannins. Cellar for 5 years and save some for 10. “

90 Points Wine Spectator, 31 July 2013

Willunga 100 Cabernet Shiraz 2010

“Polished and expressive with an appealing red berry glint to the mix of blueberry and spice flavours, finishing gently but persistently. Drink Now through to 2018.”
